The return of Eight Rounds Rapid to their natural environment: the Hope & Anchor. “Like Squeeze with an ASBO.”
Eight Rounds Rapid were due to play the last Crossroads of `Progress before the pandemic kicked in in 2020. It didn’t happen. For two years. We finally pinned them down and physically forced them to fulfil their contractual responsibilities. They fought back. They’re wily and agile, and know tricks. But Crossroads of Progress has the muscle. In the end they said they’d only play if Dealing With Damage were there to support them. We booked ‘em. We, in turn, insisted that The Charlemagnes play too. The other bands pushed back. We insisted: Charlemagnes or the deal‘s off. They accepted so long as we got a legend in to open the show. We went for Cassie Fox (LOUD WOMEN, Thee Faction, The Wimmins Institute, GUTTFULL, I, Doris). Eight Rounds Rapid accepted the compromise. The gig‘s on. Eight quid in advance. Tenner on the door.
