Welcome to The somber Sessions – A monthly showcase of some of the coolest upcoming artists and bands from across London and beyond !!!

We are so excited to share this months lineup of amazing acts:

Rita Mae

New Zealand singer and songwriter Rita Mae has been searing her unique style of indie-alt rock ‘n pop into the minds of discerning music lovers around the globe. Her recent releases the grungy, anthemic ‘Kiss The Sky’ and gritty ‘My Bad’ have quickly clocked up tens of thousands of streams and new fans alike.

She now releases her next single, the stripped back ‘Big Star’, out on 16 August. Co-written with and produced by the Grammy-nominated NZ-born, LA-based songwriter and producer Leroy Clampitt (Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter), it’s the next single from her upcoming EP ‘Kiss The Sky’, out on 8 November.

GRETCHIN

Born and raised London rising star, Gretchin, released their deput EP, “When I Was 19” in December 2023. The Indie Pop record which effortlessly blends genres, follows the singer as she tells a story of trying to grow up and her fears of being left behind.

In January 2023 Gretchin was named by CD Baby and Licks Magazine as one of their “Best Artists in Town” for the year and she delivered. Her debut EP went on to gain support from NME, Clash Magazine, DIY Mag and more.

Inspired by the sounds of their childhood, from the likes of Elliot Smith to The Cranberries, Gretchin made the EP with her brother, producer and songwriter Joe Hamberger. The pair recorded the debut in the garden shed of their family home, exploring coming of age in the modern day.

Serena Clara

In a genre she’s coined as ‘poetry-pop’ artist and producer Serena Clara creates textural soundscapes that semantically support her songwriting. Her work comes from intense introspection and analysis of the human experience. Citing movement as a key part of her storytelling, her fantastical performance style has been likened to that of Kate Bush and Bjork.
